大学英语四级又将在12月份拉开帷幕，现在就从英语四级高频词汇入手，打好根基，不再让频频出现的生单词成为你听力，阅读中的障碍。

contract v. 使缩短，感染，订约

典型例句：Their firm has contracted to build a double-purpose bridge across the river.

译文：他们公司已承建一座横跨大江的两用大桥。

contradict v. 反驳;反对;否认;与……矛盾，与……抵触，与……相反

典型例句：Your actions contradict your declared moral principles.

译文：你的行为违背了你宣称的道德准则。

巧记：contra(相对立的) dict(说)=相反之言

contradiction n. 矛盾

历年真题：There is no contradiction in my going on to say that a teacher should be a bit of an actor.

译文：我将要说的老师有点像演员的这句话中，没有任何矛盾之处。

老师导学：在考试中出现的频率很高。常见的用法有：in contradiction to(反之，与……相反，同……矛盾);in Contradiction with(与……相抵触)。

巧记：contra(相对立的) dict(说) ion(名词词缀)=说对立的话
